By Hand, By Water, By Mind

'By Hand, By Water, By Mind' opens July 16 at the Maude Kerns Art Center in Eugene, Oregon.
This solo exhibition runs through August 27, with an opening reception on July 16 from 6-9pm and an artist's talk/discussion on August 18.

I will be showing a broad range of work including beadwork and my more recent 'View from the Canoe' documentary project. The 60-some works in the exhibition include video, photography, hand-made maps in paper and mixed media, sculpture and hand-sewn beadwork.

Three - Solo Exhibition at the Maude Kerns Art Center in Eugene, Oregon.

Four - I've been awarded a residency with Signal Fire. Four artists, one week, each with a 12 x 12 foot tent, in the Mt. Hood National Forest. Groups show during the following year in Portland, OR.

Award

'The Re-education of Smedley Butler' received a jurors award at the Materials: Hard and Soft craft exhibition in Denton, Texas. Jo Lauria, curator of the 'Craft in America' exhibition (also a PBS series) juried this years exhibition.

The View from the Canoe

A year and a half ago, I set off on a path - a journey of exploration, with my canoe. What started as a blog of frequent canoe trips evolved into something more poetic, which evolved into something spoken, and which has finally evolved into a film/video project. The work is just ready for public consumption and we'll see where it goes from there. You can find art in anything... if you are willing to put your time in.
